We tend to like things neatly arranged, but art turns out… the way it turns out. However, there are several general categories my work can fit into.
Artists can make a lot of choices for what they want their work to do. In my world, paintings are a respite from the conflicts of the day. I want my work to convey positive feelings: joy, delight, laughter, calmness.
Collision Series
I refer to this latest work as collision, because I brought my ink drawings together with my paintings in a new way for me.
Colorline Series
Kind of obvious where the name came from for these. I have enjoyed creating a combination of 4 things: Strong line art, brilliant paint, a flattened plane, and yet portraying some sense of depth with shadows.
Abstraction Series
I’m enjoying the play of color, texture, and line work. It seems to me that abstract work needs a firm anchor in familiar imagery for it to feel relevant.
Drawings
This category includes pencil, ink, and printmaking.
Outline Series
Most of my work in the last 10 years has incorporated strong line work. These paintings have black oil pastel drawn over the paint to accentuate the outlines.
